Larissa Cassell

Larisa Cassell is a native of Missouri, born in Kansas City in 1952. She likes to say that Missouri was a great place to grow up, a great place from which to launch life's adventures and a great place to return to when it's time to settle in.  Life's adventures have indeed taken Larisa and her husband, Chris, far afield. They spent a year in Inverness, Scotland where Larisa was researching a novel. The time spent living abroad shaped virtually all aspects of the couple's future.

An embryonic interest in rare books developed into a lifelong passion. Upon returning to the States, Larisa began working at Glenn Books, the venerable antiquarian book shop in Kansas City. Her mentor in the trade was the highly respected and much beloved, Ardis Glenn.
Larisa left Glenn Books when she and Chris decided to build a stone house in a rural valley, reflecting their love of traditional British architecture of the Cotswold region. The second story houses a library and book shop, Green Gate Farm Antiquarian Books, with a specialty of the Arts and Crafts movements of Britain and the United States. The shop is open by appointment. Art Nouveau color plate books, fine bindings and literary first editions are in plentiful supply.

In addition to being an idyllic setting for a book shop, Green Gate and its surroundings nurture Larisa's other interests, gardening, water color painting and writing. She is currently working on a collection of short stories about rural life as well as two longer pieces.
